Ultra rare gold Movado Polyplan with Breguet dial from around 1915
Movado Polyplan's are something very special... made between 1912 and 1917, it is estimated that less than 1500 were made in various metals but probably less than 1000. Because of the complex movement and expensive materials, prices were very high which explains the low production numbers. It actually was the first Curvex watch which fits the wrist perfectly. This was possible due to the very special movement which was made in three levels (see pix). The Polyplan name derives from the multi (poly) level shape and design of the movement. Various dial and case designs were used, probably also on special order. The original applied gold Breguet dial on this watch is probably the most desirable... it has beautifully and slightly aged which gives it extra warmth and unique vintage feel. The long 18k gold case has beautiful engraved sides and a flexible lug on one side. It measures 45 x 20mm (excl lugs). Attached is a period style strap with Movado buckle. Don't miss the opportunity to acquire this beautiful and rare horological piece of history.
