Extremely rare gold Longines Chronometer 6923 from the book
Rarely seen with less than 5 publicly known, this is the Longines Chronometer ref 6923 from 1959. But this rare piece has an extra bonus... this exact watch came from the collection of Mr. Fritz von Osterhausen who wrote many watchbooks and is featured in his; Wristwatch Chronometers book on page 126/7. Longines made very few wristwatch chronometers and most others were used for competitions. This 18k gold 35mm screwback version is probably the rarest wrist chronometer which most likely all went to the USA. Also this was sold to the USA on November 5th 1959 according to the accompanied extract. The movement is what it's all about... Cal. 27.0S with center seconds, adjusted to 5 positions and temperatures, Breguet spring and Incablock shock protection. The nice dial with applied gold indexes was expertly refinished. Normally we never sell refinished dials but this watch is soo rare, so nice we could not resist. Plus, if it was original the price would be a lot higher! Attached is a nice vintage strap with Longines buckle. Unique opportunity!
